“I owe a lot to this area; I’ve been given more than one person should have, so it’s my job to give it back to people.”
Philanthropy
Adam Weitsman is a passionate philanthropist and has made giving back to the communities in which he lives and works part of his life’s mission.
Since becoming a successful industrialist, often referred to as the “King of Scrap”, Weitsman has focused his personal charitable giving on the Central and Southern Tier regions of New York. In particular, his philanthropy honors underserved women and children, focused on providing basic needs and returning dignity to all.
He is the owner of several restaurants in his hometown of Skaneateles, NY, whose profits are donated to many of the charitable organizations in the surrounding region.
As passionate advocate of family and childhood development, Weitsman has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various Boys and Girls clubs and the Syracuse Rescue Mission’s Clarence L. Jordan Food Service and Culinary Education Center. He is also a strong supporter of Peter Coleman's campaign to raise money in the fight against childhood cancer.
Weitsman has recently donated to the Tioga County Probation Department, which has developed a program that encourages at-risk youth to make choices in their lives that keep them from getting into trouble again with law enforcement. In 2023, Weitsman donated $250,000 to the local private school, Hillel Academy of Broome County, in an effort to help keep its doors open.
CNY Tuesdays and Southern Tier Tuesdays are weekly campaigns which highlight some of these stories, helping give a voice to the amazing non-profits making a difference in Central New York communities (and CNY citizens) through a partnership with NBC3 News.
In addition, Weitsman and his daughter Clover, are empowering the featured organizations to transform their communities even further through weekly $2,000 grants.
