Reviving a Landmark: The Krebs Restaurant Gets a Makeover

In Skaneateles, New York, the Krebs restaurant has been a fixture since 1899, serving locals and luminaries such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Bill Clinton. However, the restaurant faced an uncertain future when it closed in 2010. Adam and Kim Weitsman stepped in to save the establishment, and enlisted McAlpine Booth & Ferrier Interiors to give the property a complete renovation. Preserving the original charm of the Krebs, the designers used residential fabrics to create a warm and inviting ambiance, while the lounge walls are adorned with photos of the founding family. With the restaurant's reopening, executive chef Austin Johnson has revamped the menu, while the new owners donate all profits to women’s and children’s charities, giving back to the community in multiple ways.
